Did you know that the food you eat affects the way you feel and the quality of your life? Our bodies are built up from the foods we eat. As the tissues of the body break down, and creates waste, this waste is repaired from our food. Each organ of the body requires its share of nutrition. The process of digestion transforms the food we eat into blood and uses this blood to build up the varied parts of the body. Foods should be chosen therefore, that best supply the elements needed for building up the body.
How best to make that choice? In this choice, appetite is not a safe guide. Often, through wrong habits of eating or drinking, our appetites become perverted. We crave foods that are unhealthful, that weakens us instead of strengthening us. So in order to know what is best for us to eat, we must go all the way back to the original diet in the Garden of Eden. A garden! We must study what was our Creator’s original plan for our diet.
The original diet in the Garden of Eden was fruits, grains, nuts, and seeds. Gen 1:29. After sin, man received permission to eat vegetables also. Gen 3:18. Fruits, nuts, grains, and vegetables constitutes the diet chosen for us by our Creator. When we prepare these foods, in as simple and natural a manner as possible, we are choosing the most healthful and nourishing foods for our bodies. These foods will not only impart strength, but also give us a power of endurance and increase our intellect like nothing else will.
